Distribution Board (DB)
Pick the equipment you care about. Each one has a matched Clearline protector, chosen by our engineers for that load.

The current spreads through the ground and couples into nearby supply and data lines. Thousands of volts travel towards your building in microseconds.
Inside a Clearline protector, components that are normally idle switch on in nanoseconds and divert the surge current to the earth conductor.
The voltage that gets through is held below what the equipment can withstand. When the surge has passed, the protector returns to standby.

A building is protected in zones, from the roof inwards. Each layer handles what the one before it lets through. Turn them on and off to see why one protector on its own is rarely enough.
A Type 1+2 arrester at the distribution board diverts surges on the incoming supply before they reach any circuit.

Clearline designs and develops its own products locally, and keeps adapting them to South African supply conditions: load-shedding, brownouts and some of the highest lightning densities in the world.
About ClearlineMore than 30 years of industry-specific protection for telecoms, security and office automation, backed by a team of over 200 people.
Our storyEvery Clearline protector is guaranteed for two years against defective material and workmanship. If a unit is damaged by lightning or an over-voltage, we repair or replace it.
Warranty termsSelected plug-and-play protectors also cover the equipment plugged into them. If a surge gets through a properly installed unit, we pay to repair or replace that equipment.
What is coveredOur teams survey homes, businesses and industrial sites, then give you an obligation-free report. The call-out fee is waived if the visit leads to a sale.
